Description
Please join us for the 9th Annual Run for the Red 5K & 10K Run/Walk on May 10th, 2014 at Fort Knox Military Base presented by the American Red Cross of Fort Knox.
Online registration closes on Thursday, May 8th. After that date, you may use the Mail-In entry form to register on Friday, May 9th at the American Red Cross, 1131 Fifth Avenue, Fort Knox, KY 40121 or from 7:30 to 8:15 am on race day. Please call 502-974-9980 if you have any questions.
General Information
Race registration, start, and finish take place at PX (Post Exchange). T-shirts are only available to individuals who pre- register. Late registrants receive t-shirts, if available, the day of the event. Water is free to participants and race volunteers.
Event Schedule
7:30–8:15 a.m. - Registration
7:30–9:45 a.m. - Kids Run Registration (50 & 100 Yard Dash)
8:30 a.m. - 5/10K Run/Walk
10 a.m. - Kids Run
Inclement Weather
The American Red Cross will cancel the event due to severe inclement weather (tornados, flooding, thunderstorms). The Red Cross will not provide refunds if the event is canceled. Pre-registered individuals will still receive t-shirts and goodie bag.
Awards
The awards ceremony begins approximately 30 minutes after the last runner finishes each event. Individual awards are given for each age group (male and female). Awards and prizes are given to each child participating in the Kids Run.
The American Red Cross Best Attendance Trophy is awarded to the Unit/Business with the most participants in the 5/10K. The Unit/Business with the fastest time is awarded the American Red Cross Commander’s Cup in the 5/10K. The Best Attendance Trophy and Commander’s Cup can be displayed at the unit office or in a place of business, but must be surrendered for the following year’s race.

- Over 30 health and fitness business and agency booths
- Food tastings and case lot sale at commissary
- Giveaways at the PX from Nike, Gatorade, and GNC along with special discounts
- Showcase of fitness classes from MWR
Special Rules and Considerations
Fort Knox is a military installation. Due to the Global War on Terrorism, Fort Knox security services and personnel reserve the right to limit installation access to anyone, anytime. All personnel entering Fort Knox are guests on the installation and are subject to all applicable rules and regulations, including, but not limited to searches of persons and property upon entry or exit from the installation.
Special Rules and Disqualification
No pictures at the Fort Knox military installation. Runners must maintain their race bibs on their chest throughout the race until the awards ceremony finishes. Any participant who deviates from the course for any reason, receives assistance that would give them an unfair advantage over other racers or does not follow accepted guidelines, will be disqualified.
