Event Description
Ridge Runners Racing INC proudly presents the 2nd Annual Little Rooster Kids Fun Run, 5K Trail and Mini Barnyard Ultra Trail. The event will take place on Friday, October 16, 2026 at the Gallatin County Fairgrounds and Park in Glencoe, Kentucky. Nestled between interstates I-71 and I-75, this quaint rural farming community is easily accessible from Cincinnati (30 minutes), Lexington (45 minutes), and Louisville (60 minutes). Visitors will feel as if they’ve stepped back in time as they enjoy the small town vibe Glencoe has to offer. Plan on making it a “runcation” and check out the many accommodations and attractions within minutes of the event site. The Little Rooster Kids Fun Run 1/2 mile will be offered for kids 9 & under at 5:30 PM, so plan on bringing the kids to join in the fun! A 5K trail race will follow at 6:00 PM. Walkers are welcome as this race has a generous 2 hour cut-off. The Mini Barnyard Ultra Trail starts at 8:00 PM and is a “last runner standing” event. Last year the race lasted 14 hours before Chris Emberton of Elizabethtown, KY was declared the winner after completing 28 laps (58.33 miles).
What is a Mini-Barnyard Ultra
Most runners are familiar with and have run a 5K, and some may know about or even completed an ultra event. But, what is a Mini Barnyard Ultra? Simply run as many 2.083 mile loops as you can within a half hour on the half hour until you can no longer do so. If you can’t continue or don’t finish the loop in time you are eliminated. Why 2.083 miles? If you can remain on course for 24 hours, you will have run 100 miles. The Little Rooster Run Mini Barnyard Ultra is designed to test who has the determination and perseverance to remain on the course the longest. It intends to push runners to discover their own limits. We invite you to come and venture farther than you’ve ever gone on your way to a new personal best distance.
It took 14 hours before Chris Emberton (49 of Elizabethtown, KY) ran his “victory lap” to become the 2025 Little Rooster Run Mini Barnyard Ultra Trail Champion.

When the rooster crows runners will head out through the barn and follow the mowed cross country course out and around then back through the barn to the finish line.
Runners in the 5K will need to be in the start corral next to the Pavilion (Large Shelter) near the facility entrance no later than 5 minutes prior to the start of their race. When the rooster crows runners in the 5K will head out through the barn on the challenging yet picturesque 3.187 mile loop course that winds through open park green-space and canopy covered trail that boasts nearly 400 feet of combined ascent and decent before meandering along and over the dam of the fishing pond on their way back through the barn to the finish line.
Runners in the Mini Barnyard Ultra need to be in the start corral next to the Pavilion (Large Shelter) near the facility entrance no later than 5 minutes prior to the start of their race. All registered participants will receive a fully sublimated technical short-sleeve shirt from RunUrRun at registration and a special memento at the end of the finish chute. Athletes are encouraged to have a headlamp as it could begin to get dark this time of year on course (especially in the trail).

Little Rooster Run Mini Barnyard Ultra
The Mini Barnyard Ultra will be run entirely on the 2.083 mile loop course. A headlamp is required for all participants in the ultra event. There will be lighting inside the grounds but it will be dark in the trail section at 8:00 PM until daybreak on Saturday (should you have the courage to still be on course).

Crew Stations
Runners may provide their own aid throughout the event. They will have access to water and/or electrolytes at the on course aid station(s) and finish line.
Participants in the Little Rooster Run Mini Barnyard Ultra registered by September 30, 2026 are permitted to set up a crew tent (no larger than 10’ x 10’) in the designated area alongside the start corral area at no additional cost. Crew tent locations will be assigned by # based on order of registration starting with #1 (the lower the number, the closer to the starting corral). Athletes registered after September 30, 2026 can make a crew tent reservation at an additional cost as an add-on.
Runners who register by September 30, 2026 will also be provided a “Pavilion Pass” at no additional cost which grants them access to our full-support Pavilion Aid Station. If you would like to support Ridge Runners Racing INC by becoming a sponsor, please see the information below.
Dear Future Partner,
Ridge Runners Racing is a nonprofit organization with a simple mission: “We exist to share our love of distance running with others through hosting events and races.”
We currently host two flagship races that serve runners and our community in meaningful ways. The first is The Little Rooster Run, an ultramarathon held each October. The second is Big Rex’s Bottle Rocket 5K, held each July around the Fourth of July. We are also working toward additional events that we hope to share with you in the near future.
All proceeds from our races are reinvested directly back into our local community. Through these events, we aim not only to promote health and fitness, but also to support local causes and bring people together around something positive and impactful.
We are currently seeking partners who are willing to join us in supporting these efforts. Sponsorship opportunities are available for individual events or as a general nonprofit partner supporting all Ridge Runners Racing activities throughout the year. As a registered nonprofit organization, all contributions are tax-deductible.
If you decide to partner with us, we would be honored to work alongside you. Our sponsorship levels for both general support and individual events are outlined below. Contact information and donation details can be found at the end of this letter.
Thank you for your interest in supporting Ridge Runners Racing and investing in our local community. If you would like to support us in a way other than financially, we would love to talk with you about additional partnership opportunities.
Sincerely,
Ridge Runners Racing
