Description
The October installment of our Speakeasy series features the two Lexington runners who completed the 2019 Barkley Fall Classic. Bram Bell and Kelly Hurley travelled to Frozen Head State Park in Tennessee last month to pit themselves against one of the toughest and most colorful 50K’s out there. You’ve probably heard of the race’s big brother, the Barkley Marathons, which the fall classic is based on. Kelly and Bram got to race on some of the same course as the Big Barkley including the park trails, the tunnel under the prison, and a few of the race’s more famous locations with colorful names such as Testicle Spectacle, Meth Lab Hill, and the infamous Rat Jaw, possibly the slowest mile in organized racing. They will be discussing their preparation for the race, how their races went, what Rat Bites are, who Lazarus Lake is, and how Barkley culture is different from other races.
