After much consideration, the four organizing nonprofits of the Color Blast 5K have decided to cancel the 2020 race. Organizers decided to postpone the race, which was originally set for March 21, until later in the year. However, with ongoing Covid-19 restrictions and unknown future distancing regulations for large crowds, all nonprofit officials made the difficult decision to cancel the race.
We want to thank the nearly 2,000 walkers/runners who signed up for the event and for the teams that have become a part of the Color Blast family the last eight years. We also want to thank event sponsors, many of which have been longtime supporters of the Color Blast. The Color Blast is a fun community event, but more importantly it represents gathering together to support those with disabilities to show that they are valued, able and special.
Each of the Color Blast organizing nonprofits -- Puzzle Pieces, Dream Riders of Kentucky, Team Karlie and GRADSA -- has faced extreme challenges in the midst of the Covid-19 crisis. It is our hope that registered racers will see their registration fees as a donation to each of these vital nonprofits who are facing unforeseen hardships. But we also realize the same challenges we face have been seen by everyone in the greater Owensboro community. We do not want to cause any additional hardships during this very trying time. Please contact : firstname.lastname@example.org if you would like to request a refund, but please know this means you will not receive the 2020 race t-shirt. For those that do donate your registration fee to the four organizing nonprofits, you will be sent a $10 voucher for next year’s race and of course your 2020 race shirt.
When social distancing restrictions allow, we will set up a time for participants to pick up their race t-shirt. We are sad that this year’s creative new design from title sponsor Independence Bank won’t be seen in full display at the 2020 race, but we want to make sure that each registered participant gets this coveted memento.
At this time, organizers are moving forward with planning for Color Blast 2021, which we hope to make bigger and better than ever. Stay tuned for the announcement of details! Plan the 3rd Saturday in March to honor Disability Awareness Month.
The 2020 Color Blast 5k
The Color Blast 5k is a fun community/family run/walk color celebration to recognize the positive impact individuals with special needs have on our lives, to acknowledge their abilities, and help spread awareness!
The Color Blast 5k is brought to you by four Owensboro non-profits, Puzzle Pieces, GRADSA, Dream Riders of KY, and Team Karlie, whose common mission's are to support and enhance the quality of life of those with disabilities. Your participation in this event will 100% directly benefit theses host organizations.
The objective of the 5K event: participants wear white (don’t forget to have fun with it using headbands, tall socks, tutus, anything white) and along the run/walk route participants will be showered with a safe and non-toxic COLORED POWDER at each mile marker. The color fun continues to the After Party. We encourage families, schools, church groups, and friends to get involved in this non-competitive 5K event to have fun and support a great cause!

Students are $15.00 and adults are $25.00 until March 13th then the discount ends and adults will be $35.00, 5 and under are free but do not receive a shirt or powder (if you want them to have these item please register as a student) Thanks!
You will receive a FREE Race Shirt with your registration. Only those who register before March 6th, 2020 will be guaranteed a shirt. We ALWAYS do our very best to accommodate everyone!!! Please register early!
After March 6th, although we try our very best, we can not guarantee you will receive your size or receive a shirt. We have deadlines to order from our manufacture and have to make estimates after March 6th. Thank you for participating in our fundraiser to benefit those with special needs.
