Halloween-O-Run 5K Now a Virtual 5K
Due to the new regulations put in this week by Gov. Andy Beshear, we have made the tough decision to convert this year's Halloween-O-Run 5K to a virtual event.
All current registrants will be transferred to the virtual race. You will have the opportunity to pick up your swag, including a Halloween-O-Run finisher medal and neck gaiter, on Saturday, Oct. 31 during a four-hour window when the race would have been taking place:
- Mom's Music (1900 Mellwood Ave, Louisville, KY 40206): 10am- Noon
- Maxwell's House of Music (1710 E 10th St, Jeffersonville, IN 47130): 10am- Noon
- Frank Otte Nursery Superstore (2930 Bardstown Rd, Louisville, KY 40205): 8am- 10am
Just because we can't be together in person doesn't mean we can't come together to share our experience on social media. As you complete your own 5K at your own location and time this weekend, remember to post to social media using the hashtag #HalloweenORun.
Once you complete your own Halloween-O-Run 5K at a time and location of your choosing, you can submit your results online to the RunSignUp website. To submit your results, visit the website and click on Results. On this page, there will be a link to submit your virtual results. Follow this link for step-by-step instructions if you need additional assistance. Results need to be submitted by Wednesday, Nov. 4. Following that, the fastest overall male and female will receive an awesome trophy.
We understand the disappointment that comes with this decision, but please know this decision was not made lightly. The safety of our participants and volunteers is our top priority. We thank you for your support of Halloween-O-Run 5K and the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Kentuckiana with your virtual race entry. Hopefully we will be able to host our in-person event in 2021 when we can safely see you in person.

Safety for everyone is our number one priority so extra measures will be put in place for every runner:
- Space is limited.
- Start times will be staggered, with no more than 25 participants starting at one time. You will sign up for your start time when you sign up for the event.
- Runners need to stay in their car or run solo to warm up until 5 minutes before their designated start time.
- Bibs and timing chips will be placed on a large corkboard by last name for you to find your bib right before the race on race morning.
- As the course consists of four laps of the Outlet Shoppes of the Bluegrass, you will be required to run with a mask or face covering. You will need to put on your face covering whenever you pass someone without being able to maintain proper distance.
- No headphones will be allowed while participating to ensure you can hear when runners/walkers are approaching behind you.
- Please bring your own water to carry with you as you participate. There will be no water stops along the course.
- Post-race goodies, including a bottle of water and snacks, will be pre-packaged. You will also be required to put on your face covering after crossing the finish line.
- If you are feeling under the weather or have a fever of any level, we ask you not to participate on race day.
The Halloween-O-Run will benefit Ronald McDonald House Charities of Kentuckiana (RMHCK). RMHCK provides the home and support that allows families to stay together while they focus on the healing of their sick children at a critical time. The RMH began with 19 guest rooms in 1984. As the need grew, so did they. In 2003, RMHCK expanded to 29 rooms, and then expanded again in 2009, this time to 36 guest rooms, each accommodating up to four people. Their latest expansion, completed in 2020, took us to 56 guest rooms. Your support of the House during these tough times will allow them to continue to provide the support so many families need.
The 5K route for the Halloween-O-Run 5K will consist of four laps of the interior parking road at the Outlet Shoppes of the Bluegrass. You will need to keep track of your number of laps and on the fifth lap, will make your way through the Finish Line. A map of the course route can be found here. The Kids Candy Dash will be a very short dash to the finish line.
