We created the SuperHERO Kevin Stoddard Memorial Foundation to carry on Kev’s superhuman strength and spirit in helping others battling the constant fight against mental illness and addiction. There’s nothing Kevin would have enjoyed more than a morning run followed by a day of BBQing, laughing, and enjoying the company of friends and family (and maybe talking a little trash on the Cowboys…). We hope you’ll join us this Fall to carry on Kevin’s memory, fund research, and show solidarity for the millions fighting with the same courage that Kevin did.
In Kevin’s memory, we raise critical funds for treatment scholarships to provide financial resources for addicts seeking rehabilitation, as well as academic scholarship for aspiring social workers and counselors devoted to mental health and/or addiction counseling. A volunteer-run, 501(c)3 organization, the SuperHERO Foundation focuses on two initiatives:
Treatment Scholarship at Dawn Farm
No one should be denied access to drug and alcohol rehabilitation and treatment due to financial barriers. We are proud to support addicts in their fight for lifelong recovery by donating our proceeds to fund a treatment scholarship at Dawn Farm. Dawn Farm pioneers a long-term, comprehensive medical rehabilitation and recovery program with a strong emphasis on community and compassion to empower individuals who suffer from addiction to achieve long-term success.
Kevin Stoddard Memorial Academic Scholarship
Recognizing the critical need for additional health care, mental health, and social work professionals devoted to mental health and/or addiction counseling, we established the Kevin Stoddard Memorial Scholarship to remove barriers and assist counselors entering this field. An aspiring social worker himself, Kevin had a strong drive to assist others in counseling and rehabilitation, and we are happy to continue this legacy. Applications for graduate students following a curriculum that focuses on treatment of mental health and substance use disorders will be available in Spring 2020.
Mission
In honor of the courageous life and spirit of Kevin Stoddard, the SuperHERO Kevin Stoddard Memorial Foundation provides vital resources to help end the suffering and stigma of those struggling with mental illness and addiction. Through periodic programs and events, SuperHERO raises funds that directly contribute to mental health research. Our efforts also support current and future mental health professionals in their work to counsel and rehabilitate recovering addicts and others afflicted with mental illness.
