FAQ

Can my child wear a life vest, puddle jumper, etc?

YES! We will meet your child where they are at. We want them to feel confident and have a fun day learning more about triathlons.

Can my child use a trike, balance bike, or any other nonstandard bike?

YES! Again, we want your child to have tons of fun out there, they are welcome to participate on a "bike" they feel most confident on.

Will this event be timed?

We try hard to give each athlete a time, but sometimes we need our timers to provide assistants to the athletes so they can enjoy the day. So some years times just don't happen and since we have no formal winners, we don't prioritize this.

I think my child can do most of the things, but I'm nervous they will get lost on the course.

No worries! We have volunteers along the whole way pointing the riders/runners in the right direction. Plus the whole area is accessible for the parents and spectators to watch. We just ask that if you feel they could use an adult buddy, please let us know during registration so that we can partner them up. We want the parents to enjoy the event and cheer on your child from the sidelines to make them feel like true athletes.

My child may be nervous having an volunteer, can I be their buddy?

We do not have the parents as buddies as we have found the children truly love the feeling of excelling and having you cheer them on from the sideline, just like an athlete. We have a team of community members and high school students that we will make sure they get the chance to meet and connect some with and we reassure your kiddo that you will be able to see them at all times.

The volunteers are not helping my kid out, what can I do?

Volunteers in each area are watching many kids at one time and scanning the area. They may just not see your child looking confused. Feel free to get the attention of volunteers and kindly say, "Hey, can you check on him? I think he needs help with those shoes! THANKS!!" And also encourage your children to find their voice before the event, let them know the volunteers are there to help them. Raising your hand or saying help please will often get the help you need.

I have a 6 year old and a 7 year old. Can they start at the same time?

Sure, just send us a message letting us know. Please note if you have a 5 year old and a 9 year old we will not be able to accommodate. They need to be doing the same distance in the pool to make the accommodations.

Do you have a bike we can borrow?

Sorry, but we do not. Maybe try to find a friend or neighbor that might. This way they also can practice with it before the event.

Do you have lifevest my kid can wear?

Yes, the pool as lifevest on site that the kids can wear.
