Love is Action is a project of the Louisiana Society of the Children of the American Revolution under State President Michael Dunlap. The goal of the project is to bring awareness to and raise funds for the OSCAR MIKE Foundation.
The OSCAR MIKE Foundation is a veteran owned 501(C)(3) nonprofit organization that hosts adaptive sporting clinics for veterans with physical disabilities. At these clinics, veterans will do everything from wheelchair rugby to skydiving and so much more. The purpose is to show these veterans that their disabilities do not limit them and that they can stay OSCAR MIKE (on the move).
The Children of the American Revolution will be supporting the OSCAR MIKE Foundation in two ways.
1. Raising funds to sponsor the first ever OSCAR MIKE kids’ program. “11 Strong” Kids with physical disabilities will come together and participate in a weeklong clinic filled with adaptive sporting events and leadership workshops.
2. Helping OSCAR MIKE promote awareness of the current rate of veteran suicides in America, and their goal of cutting it in half from 22 a day to 11 a day.
This is where the project nickname of “11 Strong” comes from. One name – Two missions.
Members of the L.S.C.A.R. encourage you to support OSCAR MIKE by staying “On the Move” with the Love is Action 5K and Fun Run!
