Description

Join us for the 5th Annual Disable the Label Event held on Saturday, October 19, 2019, in the heart of Denham Springs, Louisiana! Each year this event consists of 2 parts- the fundraising themed 5K RUN through the beautiful neighborhood streets behind Denham Springs Freshman High; and the Community Awareness Family Fun Fest geared to allow families of ALL abilities and stages the opportunity to enjoy over 15 games and activities/local first responders/bounce houses/prizes while getting to meet some of our amazing community vendors. The kids even get to "trick or treat" with the vendors in a safe indoor environment that allows for all kids with amazing abilities to enjoy in the fun! We encourage team and individual registrations, families of our Launch Therapy Center patients, and others in the Running communities to join together to support our own non-profit Pediatric Therapy Center right here in Livingston Parish serving many needs from Occupational and Speech Therapies, to Social Groups, and help with many needs in between.

The event will kick off with the traditional 5K Run/Walk through the route at 8:00am. The Family Fun Fest with Vendors will open starting at 9:00am. The 5K awards given out at 9:15am from the indoor staged area. Team awards will be given out at 10am and the Games and Activities continue through 11:45am and the event ends at 12:00noon. Timing for the 5k will be handled again by Cajun Timing- we LOVE working with them and we know the 5K Runners like getting those instant chip timing results!

We encourage all in attendance to feel free to dress the part whether running the 5K route or enjoying the games throughout the gym, adults and kids alike can take part in our Pirates and Princesses Theme- Discovering the Treasure within! Our only rule is because of the sensory conditions of our smaller ones- nothing scary or based in horror- NO Exceptions.

So many NEW things for our event this year!! The Parents support group will be bringing a new fun challenge to enter- a JAMBALAYA competition! Be sure to purchase the Special Wrist band on site to sample all of the competitors and of course to vote for your favorite! The 5K Route this year will have some fun surprises along the way- be careful they may be a sparkly surprise or a pirate after your treasure!! Also new this year, we will have new methods for supporting us a virtual runner/attendee (Sleep in and still support a great cause with a FREE shirt) and with multiple registrations capabilities (so a family or team can sign up all together and pay at once).

We are so excited to be back this year and helping to support this wonderful organization that is helping our community and our kids discover that they CAN do amazing things because we all have amazing treasurer located inside of every single one of us...  and together- we CAN make a difference!

So join us and let's have some royal fun! AARRRRGGGG, Come on Me Matey!
