EVENT HISTORY

The first annual Lake Monona 20K was held in 1978 and has since become a beloved event, now in its 48th year (*the 2020 race was held virtually).

As a springtime race, participants have experienced a wide range of weather conditions—from rain and extreme heat to snow and sleet. After all, it is Wisconsin!

In 2007, Race Day Events acquired the Lake Monona 20K and introduced a post-race party featuring live music.

Four years later, in 2011, a 5K distance was added to the event. Over the years, participation has grown to nearly 3,000 runners.

The Lake Monona 20K/5K has also supported numerous local charities, and since Race Day Events took over, more than $75,000 has been donated back to the community.
