FAQ's

1. Where can I find information on the race day schedule, bib pick-up, where to park and other 5k information?

All this information can be found on the race info tab. We also will send out an email to registrants a few days before the race with this same information.

 

2. How do I register for the Light Up The Dark 5K?

Each person will need to register and accept the terms of our waiver but multiple people can be registered at one time. The processing fee is reduced for multiple registrations. 

 

3. What does my registration fee go toward?

Your registration fee goes directly toward fighting human trafficking in our community. You can also donate and become a fundraiser! www.unboundnow.org/give

 

4. What is your policy regarding minors running the 5K?

People of all ages are invited to participate in the Light Up The Dark 5K! All minors must be accompanied by an adult present at the venue and have a completed registration and waiver. Strollers and wheelchairs are welcome! No other wheels allowed.

 

5. What is included in the meal?

The Moody Gardens catered meal includes: a hamburger or hotdog, chips, a cookie, and a can of soda or a bottle of water.

 

6. What is included in my packet?

7. What do I need to bring with me to pick up my packet?

Please bring your registration confirmation (sent via email) and/or your photo ID.

 

8. Where does the 5K finish and start?
The Kids' K and 5K will both begin and end in the Oleander Bowl at Moody Gardens.

 

9. What time does the 5K start?

Check-in- 5 p.m.

Kids' K- 6 p.m.

5K Fun Run- 7:15 p.m.

We recommend arriving at least 1 hour before your event start to check-in, get your glow gear on, and join in the pre-race fun! 

 

10. Do you offer a bag drop or gear check?

No. Please make sure you leave any belongings or valuables in your locked vehicle. UnBound and any other party associated with the "Light Up The Dark" 5K are not responsible for lost or stolen items. Please make sure you check-in with plenty of time to return any items to your vehicle.

 

 11. Will you be giving out awards?

Yes! Awards will be given for the Kids K to the top finishers in several categories divided by ages. For the 5K Fun Run, unique recognition and prizes are in store! 

 

12. What if I lose something at the race?

There is a lost and found table near the finish line. All items unclaimed will be returned to Antioch Community Church. If you have questions about items after the run, please contact us at houston@unboundnow.org. We will donate all items left unclaimed a week after the run to a local shelter.

 

13. Can I still get a t-shirt if I can't make it to the event?

T-shirts are only available to registered participants. If you'd like a t-shirt, you can register and pick the t-shirt up at the event. Any t-shirts not picked up at the event will be available for pick-up at Antioch Community Church. For more information, email houston@unboundnow.org.

 

14. What is your refund policy?

The Light Up The Dark 5K has a no-refund policy. All registration fees go to the fight against human trafficking in our community.

 

15. What is your event cancellation policy?

If we feel it is unsafe to proceed with the event for any reason, inclement weather or other, the run directors reserve the right to cancel the run. The directors will send out a cancellation email, as well as posting on the website and social media. If the event is not cancelled, each participant should make his/her own personal decision about whether he or she feels it is safe to participate.

There are no refunds for the event. All registration fees will go toward the work of UnBound.
