Welcome to Boston Friends of Safe Passage -- supporting a progressive and empowering education for 550 students, ages 4 - 20, and their families from the community of the Guatemala City garbage dump. Safe Passage has grown from a simple drop-in center in 1999 to an innovative full-day school Pre-K through Middle School, with after-school reinforcement program for high school students.
Join us for our 11th Annual 5K Race and Fun Walk on Saturday, September 21, 8:30 - 11:00 am at Artesani Park along the Charles River in Boston. Fun Walk begins at 9:00 and Runners take off at 9:15. Help us raise $30,000 to support the Safe Passage middle school's Expeditionary Learning Curriculum! To break the cycle of poverty in Guatemala, students need a modern competencies, with STEM skills, English, computer literacy, and personal life skills. Safe Passage partners with students, families, businesses, and the broader community to provide these life-changing, skill-building opportunities.
Our 5K is entirely run by Safe Passage volunteers from the Boston area! This year, our Race Captain is Richie Howe!!! It's also super easy to create a Race Group/Team and/or become an Individual or Team Fundraiser on this site. 8:15 - 8:45 am - Final Registration and Get your T-Shirt
9:00 am - Walkers take off!
