ABOUT THE RELIEF FUND
The mission of the Boston Fire Department Relief Fund is to improve Firefighter health and wellness. Over the past decade, heart disease and cancer have accounted for the majority of on-duty firefighter deaths, and disabilities. Currently a number of firefighters are struggling with devastating cancer diagnoses and undergoing treatment. Sadly, in Boston specifically, between 2012 and 2017, 27 Boston Firefighters under the age of 70 died from cancer. During that same time, 12 firefighters died of
