Welcome to the official site of our 5K, McCarrey 1 Mile Fun Run, Virtual 5K, and Race to Summer Virtual Challenge sponsored by Frederick Health.
The in-person 5K and McCarrey 1 Mile Fun Run will be at the Harry Grove Stadium on May 7, 2022!
The challenge is a fun way to stay motivated to train and you can invite your friends and family to join you! The event will take place over 6 weeks, from May 7 to June 21st, to give you the flexibility to complete all the challenge miles. Finish in 6 weeks or less. If you missed the starting weeks it will not be too late to enter after the challenge starts…you will just have a shorter time to complete the challenge. We are also offering a 5K Virtual option.
All proceeds benefit American Cancer Society & Relay for Life. All funds are used locally!

Follow these steps to get started
1- Choose your Discipline– there are 3 disciplines, Walking, Running and Biking. Read more below under the “Discipline” section.
2- Choose your Distance– within each discipline we two distance options. Read more below under the “Distances” section.
3- Register for your Event– once you have chosen your discipline and distance you are ready to hit the “Register Now” button.
4- Join a Team– during the registration process you will be asked if you want to create or join a team. This is a great way to stay motivated and have fun with friends and family. Read more in the “Join a Team” section below.
Review the disciplines below to choose the one you want to focus on over the next 7 weeks and review the “Distances” section below to choose your distance.
WALK– this discipline is for those who like to walk. You can use a treadmill or outside. You can choose from 2 distance options.
RUN- this discipline is for those who like to run. You can use a treadmill or outside. You can choose from 2 distance options.
BIKE- this discipline is for those who want to ride their bike. You can use a trainer, stationary bike or ride outside. You can choose from 2 distance options.

-Short distance is measured by miles and time. Walk to the Bay Bridge = Total of 77 miles. (12 miles average per week).
-Long distance is measured by miles and time. Walk to Cambridge, Maryland = Total of 123 miles. (20 miles average per week).
-Complete May 7th-June 21st
-Short distance is measured by miles and time. Run to Cambridge, MD = Total of 123 miles. (20 miles average per week).
-Long distance is measured by miles and time. Run to Ocean City, MD = Total of 184 miles. (30 miles average per week).
-Complete May 7th- June 21st
-Short distance is measured by miles and time. Bike to Cambridge, MD and back = Total of 246 miles. (41 miles average per week).
-Long distance is measured by miles and time. Bike to Ocean City, MD and back = Total of 368 miles. (61 miles average per week).
We have two Team contests to create some FUN! Invite friends and family members to join you on this challenge by creating a team to support each other! Come up with a team name and be sure that everyone enters it during registration. We will have the following results for the Team competition…
Largest Team– having the most team members registered
Most States Team– having the most states represented on your team
