Please Note: The entry fees above DO NOT include one-way bus transportation from the parking area in Cockeysville to the start line in Freeland. If you would like to purchase bus transportation you may do so during registration for $10. Bus transportation can not be added on race day.

The Charm City Run 20-Miler has a course time limit of 5 hours.

There is a 350-runner capacity on this race.

Race registration fees (and the processing charge from RunSignup) are not refundable. These funds are used to pay for race premiums, permits, supplies, staffing, and other costs incurred before, during, and after the event is held. To be consistent and fair to everyone we cannot make exceptions to this policy.

If you would like to pick up someone else's packet, you must present their pre-race email that contains their QR code.  We appreciate your cooperation with this.

PLEASE NOTE: Race bibs are not available for pickup at the starting line. If you plan to pick up on race day, you must do so at Ashland Marketplace where the buses pick up.

VIRTUAL RACE INFORMATION

We have created a virtual race option for those who would like to participate but are not local, or do not feel comfortable attending an in-person race at this time. Here's how the virtual race works:

1. Register for the virtual event, and sign up for text or e-mail notifications.
2. Your race swag will be available for pickup at our Saturday packet pickup, or can be mailed to you at no additional cost. We will begin mailing VIRTUAL race packets on September 17th.
3. You'll receive a text or email (if you opt in) when the race "starts" on September 14th.
4. Run your race and submit your results either by text message or email (if you've opted in) or by heading to the results page here by September 15th at 11:59 PM Eastern Time). Results update in real time as people submit their times. Be sure to take a selfie and post on social media using the following hashtag #charmcityrun

Virtual race performances are not eligible for the overall event awards.

PARKING AND BUSES

There is no parking at the start of the race in Freeland, MD. The trail parking lot is reserved for other trail users, and we need to leave space for others to enjoy the trail as well. You can arrange your own drop-off at the race start (Freeland Trailhead), or ride the bus from Ashland Marketplace if you purchased bus transportation during registration.

The first bus will leave Ashland Marketplace at 6:15 AM. Buses will leave every 15 minutes thereafter, provided they are full. The last bus will leave at 7:15 AM. Transportation is not guaranteed for race-day registrants.

If you have yet to register for the bus, transportation can be added to your registration by attending a packet pick up session prior to the event or adding it online by following the steps below:
1. Go to your runsignup.com profile page
2. Click on "manage registration" to the right of the race listing under your upcoming events
3. Select add-on from top menu and complete process

Bus transportation cannot be added on race day. There is no return transportation to the start area provided. Charm City Run does offer a shuttle service to bring runners from the finish line back to their car at Ashland Marketplace.

AMENITIES

Performance shirts to all participants; medical coverage on course; water and electrolytes at designated sites; post-race refreshments at the finish line area.

NOTE: Fluids are available only about every three miles. It is recommended runners carry their own fluid replacement and/or energy supplement.

COURSE

Runners will start on the trail near the Freeland NCR Trail parking area. The course will briefly run north before turning around to head south. Once you arrive at Paper Mill Road runners will make a right turn to run in the coned shoulder for roughly 1/4 mile and then make another right turn to finish on Arrowwood Road.

The NCR Trail is a hard-packed, dirt surface and part of the "Rails To Trail" program. The trail is open to casual runners, horse riders and bikers during our event. Please be gracious to all. This is the same trail used for the Northern Central Railroad Trail Marathon.

AWARDS

Charm City Run gift cards to top three male, female and non-binary finishers overall ($75, $50, $25); and top male and female masters ($50).

Gift cards will be given to the top male and female finishers in the following age groups: 19 and under, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, and 70+.

The Charm City Run 20-Miler was meant to serve as an organized and supported long run for those in a fall training cycle. This race does not offer a finisher medal or fancy awards - rather we strive to provide a safe and supportive event and hope to be a stepping stone on your path to even bigger goals.

POST-RACE

A shuttle will be provided for the return to Ashland Marketplace. We will have water, electrolytes and post race snacks at the finish line. Although there will not be an official award ceremony, we will have awards present at the finish line. You can check on the runsignup.com results page to see if you placed and we will be happy to present you with your award.

EVENT GUIDELINES

Please no baby joggers, strollers, roller blades, skates, bikes, dogs, or other pets allowed on the race course. For your safety we discourage the use of headphones while participating. Your race number must be worn on your front and must be visible. DO NOT exchange or give your race number to another participant.

We want to be completely transparent with our policies regarding refunds, deferrals, and cancellations. If you are interested in signing up for this race please read this section carefully prior to registering. All interested participants will be shown these policies during the registration process and must agree to adhere to them in order to be admitted to the event.

Refunds

Race registration fees (and the processing charge from RunSignup) are not refundable. To be consistent and fair to everyone we cannot make exceptions to this policy.

Deferrals

We offer the option for registrants to defer their entry to the following year's event based on Charm City Run's General Deferral fee schedule:

Until September 1, 2024 (2 weeks prior to race day) - $15.00
September 5, 2024 - September 14, 2024 (within 2 weeks of race day) - $30.00. 

 Registrants may defer their entry by going into their profile on runsignup.com and choosing "Manage Registration" next to the race.

Transfers

We offer the option for registrants to transfer their entry to another eligible participant up to September 14, 2024). After this deadline passes we are unable to allow transfers as race materials have been prepped for the event. Again, to be consistent and fair to everyone we cannot make exceptions to this policy. Registrants may transfer their entry to another registrant by going into their profile on runsignup.com and choosing "Manage Registration" next to the race.

Cancellation

2020 showed just how unpredictable our world can be, and the running industry was certainly no exception. We know that it's important to have as much information at your disposal when making a decision whether to sign up for a race or not, and we want you to know exactly what your options will be should the 2024 in-person race not be able to take place as originally planned. Our regular cancellation policy found here covers scenarios that could prompt the cancellation of an event including weather, local emergencies, public health emergencies, etc. If you have any questions about our cancellation policy please email us at events@charmcityrun.com PRIOR to registering.
