Description
This event is a family friendly 5K Walk/Run (at a USATF certified site) organized in conjunction with the non-profit Oral Cancer Foundation, in memory of our 24 year-old son, Peter, who was a victim of oral cancer. It is the only event of its kind in the Washington DC area, held to raise awareness of the warning signs of oral cancer, a cancer which is on the rise, especially among young people. Our event will have music, a raffle and a barbecue for our participants, as well as free oral cancer screenings performed by volunteer dentists, and an address by an oral cancer survivor. Cancer survivors are welcome free of charge and all funds raised benefit the Oral Cancer Foundation’s programs of education, research and patient advocacy.
