NELR's First Annual Virtual 5K

Mon November 2 - Sun November 8

Run Like a Lab!

This year we have been busier than ever. Thanks to all of your support and the numerous adoption inquiries, we were able to save more pups than ever before. In a year filled with change, we are thrilled to be able to connect so many people to the comforting gift of a dog’s love. To continue this momentum and to save more dogs, we are hosting our very first Virtual 5K!

  • Register as a participant. If you are registering as a family, multiple participants can be added at once.
  • Track your run or walk using an app of your choice.
  • Complete the 5K (3.1mi) run OR walk anywhere at your convenience. There will be two separate categories of which you can choose.
  • Easily submit your time to the website between November 2nd at 12:00am - November 8th at 11:59pm.
  • Winners will be awarded based on times and categories!

Top three place winners in each category will win prizes generously donated by the Black Dog and Tails & Sails. One random lucky winner will also receive a beautiful reclaimed wood décor donated by Salty Whale Cohasset

  • Forged in Charlestown, MA in 2015, Tails & Sails brings handmade dog scarves to you and (wo)man’s best friend. Tails & Sails is a small business, woman and dog owned, that prides itself in designing and producing locally made products. Each item is carefully handcrafted with love to help your dog feel unique and special, as they well should! Go to their website to find the perfect products for your pup!

  • The Salty Whale Cohasset creates unique hand-crafted products out of local reclaimed antique wood. They are a husband and wife team with a passion and appreciation for the history of the region that they live in. They have always created their own home décor items and were inspired to start the business earlier this year after spending much more time at home as a result of the pandemic. Please check out their products at as they aim to give local reclaimed wood a second life!

  • The Black Dog brand was born out of one sailing Captain’s love for the sea, his island home, and of course, his dog. In 1971, Robert Douglas opened The Black Dog Tavern on Martha’s Vineyard, named after his canine companion “Black Dog.” The canine’s iconic silhouette soon began to appear on t-shirts, sweatshirts, & mugs. You can view all their products here -

We would love to see pictures of you, your family, and of course your pet participants! Snap pictures at the beginning, middle or end of your run/walk and don’t forget to tag @newenglandlabrescue with the #NELR5K hashtag.
