Description
The Sheepscot Valley Conservation Association is a conservation land trust located in midcoast Maine. On September 8, SVCA is having a Family Festival with a full day of fun activities. The kickoff of the day will be a 5K race through the village of Sheepscot. The course is measured and timed for folks the want to race, but we encourage anyone to join along as a fun run.
When: Sunday, September 8. The race starts promptly at 9:00 am. Registration will be open at 8:00 am.
Where: The race starts and ends from the Harriet Bird Ball Field, across the street from the SVCA offices at 624 Sheepscot Road, Newcastle, Maine 04553. See www.sheepscot.org/contact.html for directions.
Course Description: The measured course follows quiet roads in Sheepscot Village, except for a brief connector on Rt 218. The first half of the course includes a substantial hill climb. Water and aid stations will be provided. Snacks and drinks will be provided before and after the race. There will be traffic on the roads during the race.Course map at this link.
Cost: Registration is $20 if paid before the pre-registration cutoff (Aug 23). Registration is allowed on the morning of the race, but shirts will be on a first-come basis.
Age groups: 11-13, 14-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70-79, 80 and over. Ribbons for the male and female winners in each category, and certificates for 2nd and 3rd places for each category. For the 10 and under crowd, we have special “Smolt” and "Fry" runs planned for later in the morning that will be a fun course over a much shorter distance. The Smolt & Fry runs will be free and do not require pre-registration.
