FOR THEM VIRTUAL PARTICIPANT

The Silhouette Project

Description

"Did you know that we are losing 22 Veterans a day to suicide?

I didn’t know that either until I lost my own son Dustin, an Afghanistan Veteran, in December 2014.

There were so many things I didn’t know, like the signs of PTSD or where to go for help other than the Veterans Administration. Without knowing, I was helpless to stop him.

I am on a mission to educate other families about what to look for before a tragedy happens, and urging Veterans that may be struggling to reach out for the help they need and deserve.

Through the For Them Virtual Race, The Maine Silhouette Project will raise awareness about the struggles our Veterans face in returning home after their duty and to increase awareness of the risk of suicide.

Won’t you join me in this effort?" ~ Linda Lajoie, Mother of Air Force SrA Dustin Hadfield

This Virtual Race can be completed wherever you are, and to any distance or discipline that you desire.  You will be mailed a commemorative bib and awesome event shirt (if you register before April 15)!  Help us support The Silhouette Project in their mission to Remember and Honor our Heroes.

Service & Sacrifice Series Challenge

This event is proud to be a part of the Service & Sacrifice Series Challenge!

The Service & Sacrifice Series Challenge serves as a collaborative effort to raise awareness of events that continue the legacies of our Nation's Gold Star Families, Military Active Duty, Veterans, and First Responder Heroes.

OUR MISSION
Our mission is simple: Inspired by Heroes and Connecting Communities.
The goal is to connect civilians with those who have served, and introducing events, stories, and legacies they may never have known. The Service and Sacrifice Series motto is: Remember, Honor, and Inspire.

HONORING HEROES FOUNDATION
In 2020, the Service & Sacrifice Series Challenge will be managed by the Honoring Heroes Foundation. The Honoring Heroes Foundation is a 501(c)(3) whose mission aligns with that of the Challenge. The major project of the Foundation is the Maine Gold Star Family Memorial, which will be dedicated from the People of the State of Maine, to the Gold Star Families of Maine and our Nation.
