Description
Think about it, how much time does your doctor really spend with you when you go to them for care? How often do they answer all your questions patiently and comprehensibly? Or, do they usually ask a few questions and type your answers into the computer, leaving you awkwardly sitting there for quite a length of time?
Dr. Singh, Founder and CEO of Vital Checklist, is a doctor who is seeking to a better health care, and save health care dollars by producing easy to access, and easy to understand medical education both to doctors and to patients. He has quite a successful reputation for helping doctors treat patients better, and now he wants to ‘flip’ the clinic; patients should be able to understand the risks associated with unhealthy behaviors, and take control of their own . He wants to enable them to be team mates in their own health care, and when problems do arise to be ready to ask the right questions.
His vision starts with the Healthy, Wealthy, and Wise 5k. This particular race will be focusing on education about diabetes. The race will be held November 9th, 2014, starting at 11:00 am. Before the race, Dr. Singh will deliver a “Free Educational Presentation” on diabetes, and the race will also provide information about diabetes in a very innovative and tangible way of learning through T-shirts, mugs, and a very special “communication box”.
A portion of the proceeds will also benefit the Helen DeVos Children’s Hospital in Grand Rapids.
This 5k seeks to activate and “empower” patients and family members, so we urge to take part in helping promote this program for better health education, and ultimately better-quality health care. For more information please visit the iCrush 5k website iCrush.org. Also, you can find the T-shirt design attached to this email. We look forward to hearing from you about your contribution in any form to this great cause.
