Description
The David Warsen Legacy Team is hosting a run & walk event in honor of SO2 Navy SEAL David Warsen. David was a very active person who loved fitness and the outdoors. As family and friends of David, we want to honor him by celebrating his life and giving nature through a community event. This event will be held on August 12, 2017 and includes a 5K fun run that will take place on the cross-country trail and a walk on the campus of East Kentwood High School in Kentwood, MI.
Our walk is called the HERO Walk in honor of those fallen and serving in our armed forces in the local area and Michigan! The Blue Star Mothers of Kent County will be assisting us in honoring those that serve in all branches of our Military locally and nationwide. We will be honoring Gold Star families as well in our Hero Walk. The purpose of this is to put a face to those who serve and those that have paid the ultimate sacrifice. We as David's family know all too well the risks that these brave individuals and families face day to day. They are truly heroes & we need to recognize them!
The objective of this event is to bring the community together to celebrate David’s life and to raise money to support other Navy SEALs and military who are currently deployed by sending care packages once a year filled with food, clothing and any other needs they may have. Proceeds will also go to youth soccer scholarships, The David Warsen Service Scholarship, which will given to two East Kentwood Senior Athletes, and Acts of Kindness, Random or other.
