Description
8th annual Ryan Shay Mid Summer Night Run features a 5K run/walk, 10K run, and Fudgees 1 mile Moomers ice cream run. Races honor Ryan Shay who grew up in Central Lake, Michigan, and was an 11 times state champion in track and cross-country, 10 times All-American at the University of Notre Dame, 10,000 meter NCAA champion, 5 times USA National Champion, and represented the United States in distance competition throughout the world. On November 3, 2007, while competing in the United States Olympic Marathon trials in Central Park, New York City, Ryan passed away from sudden heart failure just 5.5 miles into his race. The 5k and 10k courses will cover roads and trails where Ryan often trained while living in Central Lake. All events take place in the evening.
