Description
The 9/11 Freedom Run was started by Sam Hartman in Fort Wayne, IN to recognize and honor our neighborhood first responders and to give a sacrifice of ourselves physically on the anniversary of 9/11.
It is a 9.11 mile run broken up into small 2-3 mile sections to visit various fire stations and police stations in Metro Detroit to thank our local first responders. It is not a race, but a group run meant to challenge yourselves physically and mentally while keeping the victims of 9/11 in your mind. Join us on foot, bike, roller blades, or however you choose. Pick the option that is best for YOU.
Historically we have run 11-12 min mile paces to make it approachable for nearly all runners.
This year we're taking optional donations to the Tunnel to Towers Foundation who provides homes for veterans and families of fallen heroes (military and first responders) mortgage-free. Please consider donating or collecting donations to support each mile of your run, bike, etc.
Wear red, white, and blue the day of the event and bring a flag to run with if you desire!
Start location: Renshaw Lounge in Clawson, MI. 210 E 14 Mile Rd.
Start time: Please arrive by 6:15PM to park and for pre-race announcements including the National Anthem and a moment of silence to remember 9/11 victims with the run beginning promptly after at 6:30pm.
Event end: We will end where we began at Renshaw Lounge which has a great selection of craft beer and post run carbs. Please stick around for food and drinks following the run.
Stay tuned for additional updates and route information.
