Description
The 9th Annual Escape to Belle Isle is an all inclusive, competitive and family friendly walk and run series that is hosted on beautiful Belle Isle. We offer a 5k walk/run, a 10Krun, and kids fun run. We encourage participants of all types, and have had people from age 1-92 participate from all over the state of Michigan and out of state. It is a fast, flat, timed route that starts and ends at the Belle Isle casino. The race event promotes the city of Detroit and our beautiful Belle Isle Park, and encourages families and groups to come back to the city in the summer to enjoy this Michigan gem while getting fit. We offer numerous things that no other race series offers-- a great training race course, live music with DJ, face painting for children, caricature artist, fresh fruit ice cream truck, custom medals and shirts, and more, all free to participants. We reach out to all Detroiters and numerous running and wellness groups across the state to come participate in a family and pet friendly event that promotes wellness, exercise, and fitness for all ages, and for a great cause. All proceeds are donated to the Ronald McDonald House of Detroit, that helps families of sick children needing a home away from home while their child is having treatment. We also are now sponsored by the Michigan Kohl's stores and their Kohl's Cares program, which is now dedicated to health and wellness activities. We have been blessed to be endorsed by the Governor's Council for many years, and think this is the highest honor we can have to promote our race!
Pre Race April Fun Run
We also offer a 'Spring into Spring" Pre Season Fun Run on Belle Isle on April 9 for only $10. Participants can run or walk 2 miles or the 5k course to get started on training for our July race!
