IRONDOG 5k changed to VIRTUAL RUN!
Update to all IRONDOG Race Participants:
With the uncertainty of when we will be able to hold our event we have decided to proceed the best way we can, and we have decided to continue with the 8th Annual IRONDOG 5k race as a VIRTUAL RUN. How does a virtual run work? This weekend, or whenever it works for your schedule, instead of meeting at Michigan State University and running thru campus, we encourage everyone to run or walk 3.1 miles on their own either outside or on a treadmill. This virtual run or walk will still allow everyone to contribute to a worthy cause, all while providing motivation to be active. We are not requiring you to submit your times to us. We will not issue awards this year.
Registered participants will still receive a t-shirt. Once the Stay at Home order is lifted we will provide further details as to how and when you can get your t-shirt. You will be notified via email with this information at a future date.
If you are not interested in running virtually, you can transfer your registration into a donation to IRONDOG Fund. IRONDOG supports the advanced medical and surgical care of animals at Michigan State University whose owners cannot afford their treatment. We are well aware of the life-changing implications for many people due to Covid-19. If your registration/donation will create a financial hardship for your family, please feel free to contact us at bealmatt@cvm.msu.edu.

Description
The IRONDOG Fund was created to support the medical and surgical care of animals hospitalized at the MSU Veterinary Medical Center. The IRONDOG 5K is our largest annual fundraiser. This will be our 10th annual event.
Join us for a flat, fast, fun, and unique 5K course through the campus of MSU. 300-500 runners and walkers are expected! Dogs are welcome with walkers.
Register by 3/21 to be guaranteed a t-shirt. T-shirts available as supplies last after that date.
Awards: Overall male and female and Overall Master (age 40+) male and female. Age group awards to top 3 in each age category. New in 2020 added age groups 70-74, 75-79 and 80+.
Packet Pick Up and race registration is at Playmakers ( 2299 W Grand River Ave, Okemos, MI 48864) 4P-8P Friday, March 27th and race day 7:00-8:50AM at the race site, 736 Wilson Road, MSU, East Lansing, MI 48824
The race will be chipped timed by the Michigan Running Foundation. Results will be posted during the race and on the web at Playmakers.com.

Donate and Receive a FREE Entry!
If you would like to support our animals and get a free entry to the race donate $50. When you register for the race your entry will be free! Simply Sign Up and follow the steps to register and on the donation screen enter $50. ($25 discount applied during checkout. Valid until March 21st) Donate $25 and you'll receive a $10 discount off your 5k race entry fee.

Michigan Fitness Challenge & Governor's Council Endorsement
This race is endorsed by The Governor’s Council on Physical Fitness and part of the Michigan Fitness Foundation Challenge. The challenge encourages Michiganders to engage with events that promote physical activity, health and wellness. You will receive a FIT point for every endorsed event you participate in or volunteer for from January 1st until December 31st. Points earn cool swag and a chance to win various prizes!
