Description
The 3nd Annual Harrison Township, MI Run For Resilience Ostomy 5k will be held on Saturday, October 3, 2020 as a Virtual Event. Run, walk, or roll safely at your own favorite place and celebrate Ostomy Awareness Day (OAD) on October 3rd. All proceeds benefit the United Ostomy Associations of America, Inc (UOAA) charity, a 501(c)(3) organization. Donations are tax deductible. (https://www.ostomy.org/)
We know how much the ostomy community looks forward to getting together to raise awareness and celebrate Ostomy Awareness Day. However, since we’re unsure of what’s ahead with COVID-19 leading into the Fall, UOAA and our dedicated Race Directors have decided it is better to create a safe and social distancing environment to celebrate and spread the message that “Ostomies Are Life-Savers”. Therefore, our local Ostomy 5k events across the country will be held Virtually within their communities rather than in-person this year.
What does that mean for you, your family and friends? With your registration for your local Virtual Run/Walk, you will receive a unique 10th Anniversary Ostomy Awareness Day Race T-Shirt. We encourage you to wear it at your favorite place to run, walk or roll in your community while raising awareness. Or, if you feel more comfortable staying at home, hop on your treadmill or take a stroll through your neighborhood.
As this is a critical fundraising event for our nonprofit organization, we encourage you to start a Personal or Team Fundraiser when you register, and ask your family and friends to join you to help support UOAA and our mission.
T-SHIRT REGISTRATION ENDS ON SEPT. 21st! Due to the ongoing concerns in Michigan, your T-Shirt will be shipped to you at this time. To ensure you will receive a T-Shirt by October 3rd, please register no later than 11:59 p.m. EST on MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 21st. Participants who register after September 21st will not receive a T-Shirt as with the current weather-related conditions in parts of the country, UOAA wants to ensure all participants receive their package prior to October 3rd. (Please note the T-Shirt size you ordered is no longer guaranteed.)
REGISTRATIONS RECEIVED AFTER SEPT. 21st - Follow the link to download and print your Race Bib to wear on October 3rd. The registration fee reflect this change.
As this is a critical fundraising event for our nonprofit organization, we encourage you to start a Personal or Team Fundraiser when you register, and ask your family and friends to join you to help support UOAA and our mission.
CELEBRATE THE DAY!
♦ Run, walk or roll a 5k (3.1 miles) route or distance of your choice where you feel safe and can abide to the 6-feet social distancing guidelines. Ask your family and friends to join you, and create your own ‘safe’ mini-event. You can even run/walk on a treadmill!
♦ Take pictures of yourself doing your virtual race and email them to us or tag us on your social media accounts. Hashtag your photos #RunforResilience and we may repost on Twitter or Instagram.
♦ Promote ostomy awareness and education to your family, friends and community on Ostomy Awareness Day. Post your experience on the UOAA or Run For Resilience Facebook pages!
♦ Fundraising is an important aspect of our Run for Resilience Ostomy 5k. Funds raised help UOAA continue to provide resources, educational materials, advocacy and support to the ostomy and continent diversion community.
