About
Still I Run - Runners for Mental Health Awareness is celebrating World Mental Health Day with a free 5K experience on Saturday, October 12. World Mental Health Day is observed on October 10 each year as a way to raise mental health awareness around the globe. (It also so happens to be our third birthday that day too!) Because running is pretty much our jam, we thought we'd throw a mini race experience as a way to raise mental health awareness (and promote the benefits of running for mental health)
The 5K experience is free, but will be limited to the first 75 people to sign up. While the race will not be chip timed, there will be an official time clock and start/finish line courtesy of our friends at Gazelle Sports. All runners will get race bibs, t-shirts, post-race refreshments/food, and be automatically entered into a raffle for some fun prizes! (yes, ALL for free!) There will also be some Still I Run merchandise for sale. Please be sure to bring cash if you would like to purchase any Still I Run gear.
Important Details
Shirts
If you would like to be guaranteed the shirt size of your choice, please sign-up by Sunday, September 22. T-shirts are unisex, so if you normally wear a women's style shirt, we recommend you choose one size below your normal.
Location
The run/walk is taking place primarily on the Window on the Waterfront Trail. We ask that everyone park in the parking lot at 111 Central Ave in Holland. You will then walk 100 or so fee to the start/finish line area:
FAQs
Q. Is this event really free?
A. Yes! Thanks to donations from area businesses and sponsors, this casual 5K experience is completely free! We understand that races can be expensive and we want everyone to have the opportunity to experience a 5K. So we figured, why not do a 5K experience, without the pressure of competition, AND make it free? Plus, we really don't want money to ever be a barrier when it comes to picking up the sport of running for mental health.
Q. Are dogs and strollers allowed
A. Yes, strollers are definitely allowed, but please be sure to start toward the back of the pack. Dogs are also allowed but must be leashed and well-behaved.
Q. What does a 5K experience mean?
A. It means we're going to do everything we can to make this feel like a real 5K race, but without the competition and stress! We'll have a start/finish line courtesy of Gazelle Sports, a water stop at the half way point of the 3.1 mile course, a raffle, and an official time clock. There will be no chip-timing though, so if you want to know your official time, please track that via your GPS watch.
Q. What kind of Still I Run merchandise will be available?
A. We'll have an assortment of things such as a few hats and visors, Bondi Bands, stickers, a $5 SIR bargain bin, and more.
Q. Will you accept cash as payment for Still I Run gear?
A. We will have a credit card reader on hand, but wi-fi in that area can be spotty. Your best bet will be to bring cash.
Q. How can I make a donation to Still I Run.
A. You can write a check out to Still I Run, or donate online at on the donation page of our RunSignUp event.
Q. Will an aid station be available on the course?
A. Yup! We'll have a water jug and cups out at around the halfway mark!
Q. Can you share with me a map of the course?
A. SURE!
