The Orthopaedic Rehab Specialists 29th Annual ORS 8k/5k has been rescheduled for October 24th, 2020. But since the race was supposed to be this Saturday, April 25th, we wanted to make sure that everyone got out and exercised over the next few weeks to stay connected to our patients and our communities. It's never been more important for people to #StayActive and #KeepMoving, so here we go!
We've had to postpone our in-person race date until the fall, but we didn't want to miss out on "running together" this weekend. That's why we're hosting a virtual run. Anytime between now and May 16th, you can run or walk a 5k. Just share a photo of yourself participating or your results with the hashtag #StayHomeStaySafeSaveLivesORS5k.
All proceeds go to the Jackson COVID-19 Action Network. JCAN is now working with the county’s emergency response to meet the needs of the community. The group consists of representatives from more than two dozen local government agencies, organizations, businesses, non-profits, resident-lead community groups, and volunteers. JCAN is focused on ensuring all Jackson County residents have access to food, shelter, information and other basic needs.
How You Can Give and Receive Help
Several initiatives have been launched to raise funds, obtain supplies, and organize volunteers. JCAN is currently supported through a fund established by the United Way of Jackson County and the Jackson Community Foundation. As of early April, the fund has already raised more than $150,000 for the JCAN effort from community donations. The money will be used to purchase and distribute supplies to residents in need.
Thank you for supporting the Jackson area, and we hope that you can get outside (or inside) and #Stay Active and #Keep Moving until May 16th to help us raise funds for the Jackson first-line responders!
