Description

Lansing for César E. Chávez (LCEC) will kick off it's 2nd Annual Day of the Dead (Dia de los Muertos) 5K Run/Walk on Sunday, October 25, 2020 on Lansing’s beautiful scenic river trail, near César E. Chávez Plaza, located in Old Town, Lansing, MI.  Día de los Muertos (Day of the Dead), is a celebration of life and death of all ages. While the holiday originated in Mexico, it is celebrated all over Latin America and the US. Come dressed up and ready to celebrate tradition, community, and diversity.
Participants are encouraged to wear traditional Dia de los Muertos face paint, flowers and other attire.  Face Painting will be available GREAT FAMILY FUN EVENT!
Location: River walk at César E. Chávez Plaza, 230 César E. Chávez Avenue Lansing, MI intersection of Turner St and Grand River Ave in Old Town .  The course starts at the Cesar E. Chavez Plaza and continues south on Lansing's River Trail to right underneath the 496 expressway where participants will turn around and head back to the finish at the César E. Chávez Plaza in Old Town.
Cost: Pre-registration before October 15th (all ages) $20.00 (does not include t-shirt) $25.00 includes 2nd Annual Dia de los Muertos t-shirt. After pre-registration date $25.00 (all ages) does not include t-shirt, $30.00 (all ages) includes t-shirt while supply last).
Awards: Award to overall male and female and each division winner.
Age Groups: 10 & under, 11-12, 13-14, 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-79, 80+
Packet Pick Up: will be held on race day Sunday, October 25th, starting at 10:00 am start/finish area of César E. Chávez Plaza in Old Town. Race will start at 1:00 pm.
A portion of the proceeds from the race will go towards the construction of an Archway at the entrance of César E. Chávez Plaza.
The race will be professionally timed by the Michigan Running Foundation. Results will be posted during the race and online at Playmakers.com.
