Description
Do you suffer from IBS (irritable bowel syndrome)? Have you been told to follow a Low FODMAP diet?
The Sparrow Demonstration Kitchen, located behind The Gathering Place in Sparrow Hospital, will host a program highlighting the Low FODMAP Diet. FODMAP stands for fermentable oligosaccharides, disaccharides, monosaccharides, and polyols. In simpler terms, FODMAPs are carbohydrates or sugars that are found in foods. A Low FODMAP diet restricts high FODMAP foods in an effort to reduce uncomfortable symptoms related to IBS like diarrhea, constipation, gas, bloating and cramping.
Trying to change the way you cook to adhere to Low FODMAP can be frustrating. This class can help! Our dietitians will offer an overview of the Low FODMAP Diet and teach you how to have great tasting meals and still comply with Low FODMAP. You will have the opportunity to see foods prepared and give them a try.
