Untreated mental illness is the most underrated health and social epidemic worldwide. Wherever you live, it’s all around you, and the numbers prove it:
*Depression is the number 1 cause of illness and disability worldwide.
*One in Five adults will face a mental illness this year.
*Suicide is the 3rd leading cause of death among youth ages 10-24.
*Nearly 60% goes untreated.
The solution? Early intervention. Because the best way to solve a problem is to prevent it in the first place. That’s what the One in Five Virtual 5K is all about—reducing the devastating effects of untreated mental illness. Because people’s lives depend on it.
From August 28-30, the global running community will bring the conversation about mental health into the light with the One in Five Virtual 5K. You can run anywhere you choose. At a park, in your neighborhood, on a treadmill—it doesn’t matter. Just run, jog, or even walk for mental health.
