Description

When neighborhoods come together, we can make a difference.

Join us in movement, friendship, inclusion and acceptance.

In 2017, in the Little Town That Could, Furry, Mac and their friends ran a 5K to raise money for an inclusive playground. That playground in Lancaster, Wisconsin is now a reality. Mac was born with fetal alcohol syndrome, autism spectrum disorders, visual processing disorders and over 100 over complications. Mac is just Mac, and being Mac he thinks every child should have access to play on playgrounds with their friends so they can move and use their imaginations.

Neighbors make it happen. Door by door, street by street, town by town, country by country, we are all in this together.

Red Shoes Rock is an international grassroots program to build awareness to one the world's hidden disabilities. Individuals who experience alcohol in the womb face a lifetime of complication. Our adult community of persons with fetal alcohol spectrum disorders (FASD) challenge everyone to come out and run, walk, roll with us.

Our virtual Red Shoes Rock races are a STATEMENT from the adult with fetal alcohol spectrum disorders.

We are a giving and kind people who want the children of the next generation to live, love and reach acceptance of the differences of each individual. It is a difficult life path to live with FASD. Any cell can be damaged at any time during pregnancy and our bodies worked hard to reroute, rearrange and rebuild what was destroyed from alcohol. The results mean we live a lifetime of physical and neurological surprises. And though our population most often lives in poverty we want to give back with your help. All monies will be given to communities requesting inclusive playground equipment. What we give may be meager, but we will give it our all, as we do every day of our lives.

In hopes of better futures, better brains and better lives for the next generation of children.

Red Shoes Rock Virtual Races are run by Better Endings New Beginnings, a Minnesota social initiative since 1986.

The lack of friendship affects everything.

Children that play together in laughter, respect and fun often create lifetime friendships.

Furry: The Little Penguins That Could was written to teach about friendship, acceptance, and inclusion. By sharing Mac’s story and it’s accompanying curriculum with children through their schools, communities and families—perhaps, just perhaps the ripples will encourage acceptance and help prevent bullying. By teaching understanding, we hope to alleviate the loneliness and trauma children with differences face in their lives. Every child needs a friend and everyone matters.

We break away stigma with FUN! We work to prevent bully behaviors.

It will take a world movement to change the brains of tomorrow’s children.
Walk, Run, Stroll and Roll with us at Red Shoes Rock.

Let's step out, walk, roll, run and move together!

Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders (FASD) are a 100% preventable lifetime often hidden disability that happen when women drink while pregnant. We could STOP FASD in one generation by loving and supporting a woman’s sobriety during pregnancy – 049 – Zero Alcohol for Nine Months – Join us – and Rock your Reds.

Red Shoes Rock is an International Collaborative movement of persons living with FASD, caregivers, friends, family and professional. Recreation opportunities and healthy friendships make a huge difference in the success of individuals living with FASD or other disabilities.
