Description

Looking for an interactive and fun running challenge to keep you motivated?  How about Running the Mississippi River?

Compete as a team, or as an individual and start your journey at Friends of the Mississippi River in St. Paul, Minnesota.

When Does this Event Start?  Your challenge starts when you submit your first workout!  So you can participate at any time, any location!

Run along one of the the greatest Rivers in the World and choose your distance goal to arrive at:

  • 150 Mile Challenge (reaching Little Sprouts in La Crosse, Wisconsin)
  • 350 Mile Challenge (reaching Living Lands and Waters in Moline, Illinois)
  • 600 Mile Challenge (reaching Mississippi River Collaborative in St. Louis, Missouri)

Here's How it Works:

  • Individuals - just start by signing up
  • Teams - The first team member creates a team during the registration process, then team members can sign up as individuals and join that team

Start by picking a day to start your trek from St. Paul and keep track of your miles each day.  Teams have 30 days to complete their goal distance, and individuals will have 90 days from the time they start their journey.  If you're working as a team, all members who submit miles will count for your team.

Once your team hits your 150, 350, or 600 miles, submit your results to get your finisher certificate and bask in the glory of conquering the Mighty Mississippi Distance Challenge!

FAQ's

We've gotten a lot of great questions so we'll start posting them here.  If your question isn't here please submit it on the contact us form and we'll add it:

Do I have to run the miles?  No!  All miles count!  Any miles ran or walked can be used to count toward your goal.  And walkers are welcome to participate too!

Do I have to use a special app?  Nope!  You'll enter your miles in on the results page, but how you track your miles (garmin, strava, by hand, treadmill, etc.) is up to you!

Where is this race?  This race is virtual, so you can perform your miles any where and any time you choose

What material are the shirts?  Shirts are 100% cotton.  They are Ring Spun cotton which creates a super soft and light weight feel which fits more like a 50/50 blend.  The upgraded shirts are Next Level brand Tri-Blend which is even softer and provides better wicking properties than regular cotton.
