Description
Join SHOUT International as we trek the iconic and scenic John Muir Trail- entirely virtually!
This means you can complete miles from wherever you are, doing any type of movement.
Your registration fee will help continue SHOUT International's mission: to provide financial support to patients with Scleroderma who have demonstrated need as a result of burdens of the disease. Your participation in this virtual event helps support our ability to continue our mission and support those with Scleroderma.
Have you ever wanted to hike the John Muir Trail? It is a long-distance trail in the Sierra Nevada mountain range of California, passing through Yosemite, Kings Canyon and Sequoia National Parks. It is a 210 mile trail; a stunning and challenging experience!
Starting September 1, 2021, S.H.O.U.T. International will have a virtual challenge starting at the northern terminus in Yosemite Valley to the southern terminus at the summit of Mount Whitney of 210 miles. You can run, walk, paddle, ride, ski, pedal, hike or move your body in any way to accumulate your way to the finish line. Track your data and compete with friends and other competitors.
Registrations are only open until December 1. The last day to enter your mileage is December 31, 2021. Each competitor will get a mask shipped to their home after after December 1!
The 2 big questions are: How much does it cost and how do I track data?
1) Registration Fee is $40 run sign up plus $2.80 for taxes. Your mask cost is built into the fee.
2) You will go to your account that you set up in runsignup.com and enter your data daily. You can track you data however you want and from whatever activity you want.
For example, Ilene may only track her time when actually running, while Joi tracks her steps while moving throughout her day. Ilene tracks her distance on a fitness watch and Joi uses her phone. Take the mileage recorded by either device and enter it manually. If you want to track distance based on different activities you can. If Amy walks a mile every morning and then rides her stationary bike 1 mile that night, she can track the data for both. She can enter it separately or combined.
You Got This! This is a 4 month challenge, 1.3 mile a day! Do what you want, when you want to do it, from wherever you are!
