Description
Annie Rooney graced the lives of people across the world and many members of the Bozeman Community. Annie was a vivacious spirit, fitness enthusiast, yogi, community advocate and valued friend. Annie spent her professional life as a Bozeman attorney prosecuting criminal offenses including domestic violence and drunk driving. Annie was tragically taken from this world too early when, on July 4, 2013, she was hit head-on by a drunk driver near her home town of Chillicothe, Ohio. Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol is the most heavily prosecuted offense across the state of Montana. Concerned citizens, advocates, lobbyists and prosecutors have joined forces to form the Montana Common Sense Coalition (MCSC). The purpose of the MCSC is to advocate for stronger impaired driving legislation, enforcement, and adjudication at the community and state level. In an effort to honor Annie’s memory and aid in DUI prevention/enforcement efforts across the State, we’ve organized a fundraising memorial run for July 25, 2015.
The Rooney Run will consist of a 10K and 5K run/walk beginning and ending at the East Gallatin Recreation Center. All proceeds from the run will go towards funding MCSC for statewide training, education and legislative efforts. Starting at 8:15 a.m., Lisa Hughes Bennett will be leading runners and volunteers through a yoga practice to set the focus and intention for the run. The 10K will begin at 9:00 a.m. and the 5K will commence at 9:15 a.m. Race T-shirts may be picked up the morning of the run starting at 8:15 a.m. at the East Gallatin Recreation Center.
Please join us on July 25, 2015 to show your support for a good cause, enjoy some pre-race yoga and run in the fresh Bozeman air!!
