Sponsorship Opportunities
Over the past ten years we have been able to put together a successful race. Because of the partnership we have built with businesses and the rest of the tri-country area, we have raised over $50,000 for our local and national philanthropies. As a sorority we invite you to help us obtain our goal of raising $10,000 at this year’s event.
Sixty percent of the proceeds that Delta Zeta receives from the Turtle Trot will go to the Starkey Foundation, which nationally we have pledged $5 million to over five years. Starkey Hearing Foundation uses hearing as a vehicle to reflect caring and change lives around the world. Disabling hearing loss affects more than 360 million people, including 32 million children, worldwide, yet many do not have access to the hearing devices that can help them. As a member of Clinton Global Initiative, Starkey Hearing Foundation has pledged to provide more than one million hearing aids to people in need this decade and currently gives more than 175,000 hearing aids annually. In addition to giving the gift of hearing through worldwide hearing missions, Starkey Hearing Foundation promotes hearing health awareness and education through the Listen Carefully campaign and provides hearing instruments to low-income Americans through the Hear Now program.
Twenty percent of the proceeds will go to the Delta Zeta Foundation. The Delta Zeta Foundation supports The Painted Turtle Camp, Gallaudet University as well as House Ear Institute. The Painted Turtle supports children's medical needs, inspires them to reach beyond their illnesses, and provides care, education, and respite for their families. There is no billing department. All campers and families attend free of charge.
Our local philanthropy, Appalachian State University’s Communication Disorders Clinic (ACDC), will also receive twenty percent of the money we raise. ACDC, a non-profit organization, is a clinical training program in the Communication Sciences and Disorders Program that is housed in the College of Health Sciences. The clinic provides top quality professional services to people within the tri-country region, as well as to families who travel from as far away as Wilkesboro, Lenoir, and Tennessee. They have been able to provide services to children and adults with speech, language, reading and hearing disabilities regardless of their family’s income. As a sorority, we are extremely excited to continue the Turtle Trot in order to provide support to the Communication Disorders Clinic.
Our organization would greatly appreciate any help that you are willing to give whether it is a monetary donation, publicizing the event for us, or even participating in the race. We are extremely grateful for the help we have received and will receive. We realize that this is a tough time for many businesses and that you are sought after frequently for sponsorships. However, we are extremely grateful for any help you can give us. This year Delta Zeta needs your help to make this a successful event so we can support Starkey Hearing Foundation, the Appalachian State University Communication Disorders Clinic, and the Delta Zeta Foundation.
