Heart Smart 5k

The 1st Annual Heart Smart 5k Run/Walk is a charity 5k honoring our first responders. The race will start and finish at Bearwaters Brewing in Canton NC. All proceeds from the race will be donated to the Haywood County Rescue Squad with the goal of purchasing a new and improved cardiac unit. The timed 5k will be followed by a kids fun run and a Health and Wellness Expo promoting healthy life choices in Haywood County and WNC. The event will be great for runners and non-runners alike. Each runner will recieve a commemorative pint glass and 1 free beer from Bearwaters after the race. There will be awards for Top 3 Male, and Top 3 Female along with age group awards. In honor of Veterans Day we will have a short ceremony before the race honoring military personnel from the past and present. If you are a first responders (Police, Fire, EMS)use coupon code "Responder"  and recieve a discount if you run in uniform. Groups of 5 or more runners will also recieve a discount.

10am-11am Bib pick up and Race day registration

11am-11:30am Pre-race announcements, Presenting of the Colors, and singing of the National Anthem

11:30am 5k Start

12:30 Kids Fun Run
