Description

Get pumped for a springtime mountain bike event that will test your endurance and motivate you to ride more in April - the Sprocket Fuel Mountain Bike Challenge.

Ride your mountain bike and accumulate 100 or 200 TOTAL miles, over multiple rides, during April.   For each ride, track your distance (and optionally, elevation gain and time) on your GPS device, input your data to the online platform, and watch your progress grow over the month-long event.  At the end of the event, download your digital finisher certificate with your stats and bask in your well-earned accomplishment.

In addition to the personal challenge and digital tracking of this event, your registration fee includes a super soft and comfy t-shirt that you are going to love and a head wrap that can be used under your bike helmet, as a neck warmer, or as a face mask - shipped directly to you.  All participants are eligible to win prizes and random giveaways distributed throughout the month of April.

Accept the challenge and come join the fun!

How it works

Choose your distance (100 Mile or 200 Mile) and sign up: It only takes a minute or two or three. Plus, commitment equals motivation!
Ride and Track: Ride at any time from 4/1-4/30 with the goal of accumulating your chosen mileage (100 or 200 miles). Take as many rides as you need to reach your goal.  Track each ride on your GPS device, watch, phone, map, odometer, etc.
Record Your Miles: From your device or computer, log into your profile on bikesignup.com and click on the results tab. After each ride, record your distance into the online platform (THIS IS SUPER SIMPLE - just follow the directions below).  You may also record your elapsed time, elevation gain, and any comments about each ride.  Results must be posted by April 30th @ 11:59pm.  Each rider will have the option to record to two different result sets, the general result set for any miles ridden and the TRAIL ONLY result set for miles ridden on natural surface trails.
Follow Your Progress: Each ride's progress is added to the totals of all earlier rides to make up your one month total. After each ride, watch the progress bar grow as you get closer to your mileage goal.  At the end of the event, download your digital finisher certificate with your stats.
Share (optional): Post photos from your rides on the bikesignup platform (super easy) and/or social media and use #sprocketfuelmtb so we can track your post. You may win a prize!
Celebrate: We will randomly select winners of giveaways on day 10 and day 20 of the challenge - keep an eye out for an email with the winners. And, on Saturday, May 1st by 8pm, we will post a video on the Roadless Races Facebook page wrapping up the event, awarding prizes, and drawing more giveaway winners.  Giveaways and prizes include sweet stuff like hydration packs, biking gear/accessories, and gift certificates.  All participants will be automatically included in the giveaway drawings.  Giveaways and prizes will be mailed to the winners.

Questions and Answers

Do I have to ride on trails only?

This is a personal challenge, NOT A RACE.  While we encourage you to explore and discover the fun and challenge of riding on trails as you strive to reach your mileage goal, if you have limited access to trails or if your trails are wet from recent rains, feel free to ride anywhere - gravel, beach, greenways, trainer, etc. - all is open game for this virtual challenge.   Have fun, challenge yourself, and RIDE MORE - that's what this is all about!   With the above said, all riders will have access to two result sets for their 100 or 200 mile goal, the general result set where you enter any and all miles ridden and the TRAIL ONLY result set where you enter miles ridden on natural surface trails.  All trail rides may be entered under BOTH result sets.

Do I have to input distance, time, and elevation?

NO.  While distance is the main goal with this challenge, this is your personal challenge and we want to give you the ability to track as much data as you would like.  Feel free to forgo inputting time and elevation if you do not care about those details.  Results will be sorted by distance only.

Do I have to complete all 100 or 200 miles on one ride?

No, no, no - ACCUMULATE those miles during the month of April.  Of course, if you want to crank out those miles all in one go, have at it!

What happens if I surpass my mileage goal?

We have set up the results so you can surpass your mileage goal.  Ride as much as you can during April and if you surpass your mileage goal then 'good on ya' and we will celebrate with you!

What happens if I do not complete my miles?

Life happens and sometimes, in spite of our best intentions, we fall short of our goals.  Do your best to reach your mileage goal and if you don't succeed, hey, you gave it your best shot and that's an accomplishment in itself.   FYI - you can always reassess your goals change distances if you like.  See below for details.

Can I change distances from the 100 mile to the 200 mile or from the 200 mile to the 100 mile?

You sure can.  Log into your profile on bikesignup and from the menu at the top, select 'Transfer Event' and follow the directions to 'Start Transfer'.  NOTE - if you transfer from one distance to another, you will have to input all your ride data for the new distance.

I didn't learn about this challenge until after it started on April 1st, can I still participate?

For sure,.  You have until April 11th to sign up.  But remember, the more days you have to ride, the easier it will be to accomplish your goal.
