Put on your running shoes, get creative with a costume, and anticipate this wild race that CityChurch Charlotte is hosting as a fundraiser for our partner organization, Refugee Support Services. This 2.5 mile costume fun run will loop around the Plaza Midwood neighborhood and will feature 5 fun challenges to test racer's savvy, smarts, & skills. Participants are asked to raise a minimum of $200.00 to compete in this race. All donations will go towards supporting the amazing programs that Refugee Support Services (RSS) offers the new and wonderful folks in our city with refugee status.
Please click on their organization's link to learn how RSS empowers these families to arrive, survive, and thrive in our community. The RSS grass-roots model of care is super relational, gives dignity to every valued person who comes through their doors, and has proven to be effective in helping families plant solid roots in Charlotte...won't you join us in rallying behind this mission of loving our neighbors by participating in this race???

FAQs
Can I register before raising $200.00 for Refugee Support Services? Yes, please go ahead and register when you're ready so that we can know you're joining the fun.
How can donations be made? There are two ways. You can personally gather the $200+ you plan to raise and then donate that money on the "Donate" tab using your name. Or you can invite your donors to use the "Donate" tab to complete a payment for whatever amount of their choice. Please remember to have your donors type your name in the field, "On Behalf Of." This will help us know to allocate that donation to you, the racer!
Are costumes mandatory to run in this race? It wouldn't be a "costume fun run" without you wearing a costume, now would it!? So yes, please tap into your silly/fun side and come in costume. On that note, please pick costumes appropriate for a family-fun festival (no spooky or scary costumes).
What is the course? This 2.5 mile loop can be seen on the map below. Please be aware that you will be running on the sidewalk through the Plaza Midwood neighborhood. As such, the streets will not be closed, so please be aware of your surroundings during this run. Volunteers will be stationed throughout the course to help you navigate through the course.
I know this is a charity race...but are there still race winners??? Absolutely, the spirit of "friendly competition" is alive and well with this race. The fastest male and the fastest female to cross the finish line will each win a $50 gift card to the local refugee restaurant, Intermezzo. Also, a panel of judges will vote for the winner of "Best Costume" - a special prize will be awarded to the winner.
What about the 3 P's...Paying, Parking, and Packet Pick Up? We are charging a small fee of $20 to help offset race costs (t-shirts, bibs, challenge station materials, water, etc.). Please make that payment when you sign up as a racer. The $200 or more donation funds you pledge to raise will go straight from our bank account to Refugee Support Services.
On race day, expect parking to be a little heavy around the church due to the Trunk-or-Treat party coinciding with this race. Please consider using street parking in Plaza Midwood or the parking lot at Veteran's Park. Race Packets can be picked up the day of the event starting at 3 pm. The station to pick up your packet will be located on the church steps where a friendly face will get you all set for the race starting at 4 pm. Please arrive by 3:45 pm to pick up your packet, thank you!
