The Water for People 5K is back for Spring 2024! We have the best of both worlds this year again; an in-person 5K in Charlotte and a 'virtual' 5K allowing people to participate across the state of North Carolina, (or anywhere in the world!) at the location of their choosing.

Race Day is Sunday, April 28th! We are excited to welcome runners, walkers, and cha-cha-sliders alike to support our mission and enjoy a beautiful morning out on the trail. This event provides a great opportunity to connect with athletic and community minded people both in and out of the water and wastewater industry.

We look forward to creating an awesome experience for everyone involved.

T shirt Deadline will be April 5th. Sign up before this date to guarantee a T shirt.

McAlpine Creek Park's 5K course is dynamic, challenging, and scenic. The course is packed gravel and is open to the public, so be weary of pedestrians and cyclists.

Awards and Door Prizes

Join your fellow philanthropists, water lovers, and athletic and community minded neighbors, for a fun run and a good cause. The fastest male and female runners in each age bracket will receive prizes. The biggest team and fastest team will compete for bragging rights like in years past, and will each receive a plaque to hang on their wall.

Together We Can Do More - Join a Team

It is a Water For People 5K tradition that the largest team  and the fastest teams each are awarded a plaque for a full year of bragging rights that they can hang on their wall.

Teams must consist of at least 5 people to compete for these awards.
