SwimRun NC

Many parts of the Southeast were hit very hard by Hurricane Helene and we have seen and heard about very tragic losses of people, infrastructure and properties. Our race course at Hanging Rock State Park was not affected much by the storm but the NC State Park organization announced on Monday that they are pulling resources from the parks in the East and Center of the state to help out in Western North Carolina - and thus all events in those parks were put on hold until at least the end of October.

With all that uncertainty we decided on October 1 to postpone our October 13 race and move it to the Spring. We hoped by making the call early folks had a better chance of getting refunds for travel and accommodations. We were sad about moving the race date but also get that there currently much bigger concerns in our state. 

All athletes currently registered for the October 13 race date will be automatically moved to the new date and nothing needs to be done. We set a random April date in there as a place holder but the date has not yet been decided.

We can’t offer refunds as we already spent a ton of money on hats, bibs, insurance, food, awards, trophies and much more plus the plan has always been for the proceeds of the event to go to the Hanging Rock State Park. All 3 race directors of this race work for the event as volunteers and take no money.

Once we have the new date confirmed hopefully later in October we will also open registration again. 

Experience the magic and challenge of 16 miles of running and 2 miles of swimming broken up into 10 technical trail runs and 9 swims at Hanging Rock State Park in NC - in teams of two. SwimRun NC offers stunning scenery, challenging waterfalls and a good amount of elevation gain and loss, great swag, beer at the finish, unique awards and much more. The course with all the fall colors is very beautiful but it is extremely difficult terrain and could possibly take place in very challenging conditions. This is not an individual event and teams of two can be either male/male, male/female or female/female and wetsuits in this race are mandatory. Fantastic images previous  events can be found here and there, and also here and there to give you a better impression what to expect. We think great race photography is super important, and we always provide our starting athletes with amazing pictures.

We will hopefully be able to announce our make up spring date later in October / early November
