Description
The spring for Support 5K (www.springforsupport5k.org) offers events for the whole family. We are conveniently located on Duke University's East Campus. Registration opens at 7am. The 5K begins at 8:30am. This year we are featuring a Foolishly Fun Family Run. Just under a mile long, this run/walk is suitable for families and individuals regardless of age or ability. A light-hearted event, the Foolishly Fun Family Run is all about comical entertainment and will feature 5 wacky activities along the course that are sure to keep you laughing from start to finish. Spoon & egg runs, sack races and hula hoop obstacles are just a few of the madcap happenings along the route. And, because fools rule at this event, terrific prizes will be awarded to the most spirited individual or team. So wear your most outrageous costume, show your silly side and come support the Duke Cancer Patient Support Program at the Foolishly Fun Family Run! We’ll see you there!

The Duke Cancer Patient Support Program (DCPSP) provides services and resources to help support patients and their loved ones throughout their experience with cancer. Services include: Individual, couple, and family therapy, support groups, self-image resources, pet therapy, child-life services, recreational therapy, and more. All support services are provided at no charge to patients and their families. The DCPSP believes that quality comprehensive cancer care involves attending to issues beyond the scope of traditional models of medicine. They believe in treating the whole person, not solely the cancer. Further, they believe in treating the whole family, as cancer touches the lives of patients and their loved ones.
