Description
Located in the Nantahala National Forest of the Great Smoky Mountains in NC, this trail race begins and ends on the road with 4.5 miles on the trails, 2.5 miles of which are narrow. First half is uphill and second half is downhill. Beautiful lake views. Lots of inspirational quotes along the course. A portion of proceeds supports lilteracy efforts. The race is open to ALL and is also connected to a writing retreat. The writers attending the retreat also run in the race on the final day. Participants and spectators are encouraged to dress up as a book character for a chance to win CA$H prizes. Bring a new or gently used book (or two or three) to donate to this year's official literacy sponsor, Greenville Literacy Association. They will collect the books at the Awards Ceremony at the finish line. www.writerswhorun.com
