Description
The mission of High Point Athletic Club is to spread our passion for running and wellness in the Triad area and beyond. In an effort to inspire people and increase our sense of community with each other, HPAC is hosting a free virtual mile for people all around the globe on April 25th. Right now we all have a new normal. With races all over the world being canceled this spring and summer we want to provide an opportunity for people to run, push themselves, and still feel a part of a greater community, while also engaging in social distance. You have until midnight EST on April 25th to submit your one mile time (instructions on submitting your time are explained during registration). That gives you one month to post your best mile time.
Since 2016, High Point Athletic Club Co-Founder Brandon Hudgins has been the Victory Over Vasculitis Campaign Leader for the Vasculitis Foundation. His campaign encourages people diagnosed with Vasculitis to continue to chase their personal best after being diagnosed with the rare disease. During this tumultuous time we recognize that many of the principles that Brandon shares with patients, now applies to millions around the world. Donations made to the Victory Mile will go to the Vasculitis Foundation.
How does a virtual mile race work:
Run/walk when/where you want between now and April 25th. Some people can even choose to run/walk on the road, track, trail or treadmill. It's up to you on how you want to complete it. Submit your time (you'll receive instructions on where to submit it at registration). Everyone that submits a time will receive a finishers certificate that they can print off through Runsignup. On April 26th we will announce the fastest male and female runners who will receive commemorative HPAC mugs for their efforts. We encourage everyone to share pictures on social media, tag HPAC and use the hashtag #victorymile2020 & #HPAC, and we will share your training and racing through our social media outlets. As a bonus we will pick our 5 favorite social media post about their race or training experience for the Virtual Mile and send them commemorative mugs.
