EVENT CLOSED.
Note: Tom's public run run at the Speedway track that was due to start Thursday morning (9th April) has been cancelled. With most parks being closed, everyone appears to be going to the Riverwalk and Speedway track making it very difficult, at times impossible to keep more than 6ft away from everyone.
Tom will instead run 70K (to keep it to daylight hours) near his home. There will be a few folks there on an off to monitor progress and take some photos etc..
Thank You. Donations are still greatly needed for Ronald McDonald House, so please donate if you can via the donate button on this page. It will be live until end of June.
Tom Carr, long distance runner and President of the Hillsborough Kiwanis Club plans to celebrate his 70th Birthday by running 70 miles for the purpose of seeking donations for the Ronald McDonald House of Durham and Wake County. Tom has witnessed the job that RMH has done to support parents with children who are battling serious illness or injuries.
Event is April 9th through to April 10th at the Occoneechee Speedway Track. Event page states that the event closes July 1st (this is to allow for online donations to continue past the run through to the end of July 1st).
Details: Tom will start his run at 7am on April 9th 2020 at the Historic Occoneechee Speedway Track in Hillsborough. He will run throughout the day and night to achieve his goal. Runners and walkers are welcome to join Tom for a few (or more) laps. The Hillsborough Running Club will monitor and record the event.
No fee to sign up for this event, or requirement to sign up, just turn up if you want to. If you can, it would be great if you could make a donation via the Donate button on this site. Many Thanks, Tom
