Entry Fee & Giveaways
The entry fee is $25 for walkers 13 years old and up. Kids 12 and under are free (discount applied at checkout). All participants will receive a Walk2WIN T-shirt and will be eligible for gift certificates to local businesses via a raffle drawing. We are also adding a Costume Contest to this year's event! Cash prizes will be awarded for each category (Individual, Group, & Kids).
Costume Contest Rules
Take your favorite costume on one more "stroll" by wearing it to this year's Walk2WIN! In addition to our scenic walk through Downtown Kannapolis and Atrium Health Ballpark, we've added a Costume Contest with cash prizes! So don your costume and lace up your walking shoes. Grab your friends or take it solo. We will be judging for the following divisions:
- Individual Costume ($50 prize) – costume of only one person
- Group Costume ($100 prize) – 2 or more form a group (can include kids)
- Kid’s Costume ($35 prize) – Individual (must be 12 and under and registered in the event).
Note: Entrants must choose only ONE category.
Judges will be looking for originality, authenticity, and overall theme. Being “in character” is always a plus! If you are entering the costume contest, you must arrive and have your photograph taken between 8:30am-9:15am. Winners will be posted at the end of the walk.
You must be a registered participant and walk in your costume the entire race to be eligible for prizes. All contest entrants must come to the costume registration table to be photographed for the contest. If you are a group, you must pick a team captain and a team name.
Note: Groups and pairs must come to the judging table together.
Registration will be open up to and on the day of the race. Race day walk-ins are welcome. The last day to register and be guaranteed to receive your chosen t-shirt size is Wednesday, October 15, 2024 at 11:59 pm. A limited quantity of t-shirts will be available on the day of the race for those who register after October 15, 2024.

About Walk2WIN
The inaugural Walk2WIN was held in 2021 at Atrium Health Ballpark, home of the Kannapolis Cannon Ballers, as a fundraiser for Walk Cabarrus. The Children WIN Steering Committee commissioned a community-wide walking campaign to battle childhood obesity in Cabarrus County. The program saw over 2,000 people register and collectively log over 1 billion steps. Walk Cabarrus and Walk2WIN are now being funded by Cabarrus Health Alliance and the Cabarrus Wellness Coalition.
Founded in 1997, Healthy Cabarrus is a multi-sector initiative designed to improve the health of those who live, work, learn, play, and utilize services in Cabarrus County. While Healthy Cabarrus staff do not provide direct services to the community, they provide ongoing support to community partners by guiding strategy, identifying resources, and developing evaluation measures.
Cabarrus Wellness Coalition, a targeted collaborative within Healthy Cabarrus, is charged with developing and implementing strategies to address obesity, increase physical activity, and improve healthy eating through policy, programming, and clinical-based strategies. The coalition’s primary role is to support partner agencies in improving health outcomes related to obesity, chronic diseases, and associated risk factors and disparities, provide expertise and diverse perspectives, promote and communicate findings/strategies to the community, and champion coalition causes.
Cabarrus Wellness Coalition Focuses on:
• Integrating more health and physical education and nutrition education
• Developing messages around the benefits of healthy eating and being physically active
• Implementing parent, caregiver, and healthcare provider education and other interventions in the areas of nutrition and physical activity
• Expanding greenways and increasing accessibility to parks
• Implementing and expanding policies that incentivize a decrease in the consumption of sugar-sweetened beverages
