Description

The idea for The Salisbury Charity Open Tournament came about because of our love of sports and our passion to want to give back to our community. We have been close friends since preschool so we knew we would make it through the planning stages. The hard part was coming to a consensus on where we wanted the proceeds to go. We decided 50% of the proceeds will go toward equipment for the Salisbury High tennis courts, since Roarke is the only one of the two of us that is on the SHS tennis team. Blake is a former member/ President of the Overton Elementary Student Council and giving back to something that has had an impact on what kind of person and leader he has become today was important to him. 25% of the money will be given to the Student Council at Overton and used for their recycling program. Colin Donaldson, who is a close friend of both of ours, is getting ready to start his freshman year at Salisbury High. He was diagnosed with Burkitt’s Lymphoma the beginning of April, so 25% of the money will go to Hemby Children’s Hospital, which is an affiliate of St. Jude’s in Charlotte where Colin had his chemo.
We would like to thank all participants and donors who helped make it possible for us to give to these causes!

Blake Clark and Roarke Burton
