Social Distancing Virtual Races Week 4

Sat April 4 - Sun April 5 Winston Salem, NC 27102 US RaceJoy Ready

Description

Looking for an alternative for your cancelled race?  Here's your solution!

The recent COVID-19 crisis has disrupted all of our lives and resulted in the cancellation of most near-term running races. We feel your pain. Twin City Track Club is presenting this virtual race opportunity so you can keep doing what you enjoy while staying in compliance with the safety and health guidelines of public health officials and governing bodies.

NEW THIS WEEK: RaceJoy Certified Courses & Door Prizes

We are now offering RaceJoy Certified Courses for your Virtual Race.  Use the RaceJoy app for an enhanced virtual race experience!  You can still run your race on any course you choose, but the RaceJoy app will work only on the RaceJoy Certified Courses listed below.  Click on the course name for a course map.

There are no Half Marathon RaceJoy Certified Courses at this time. We hope to add more courses in the near future if enough people show interest by using the RaceJoy tracking app.  Stay tuned!

DOOR PRIZES

We will select 3 Virtual Race finishers by random drawing and award these finishers with coupons to local retailers/restaurants and/or the TCTC store.  Coupons will be valued at $10 each.  Stay tuned for more information about the coupon retailers for this week.

How Virtual Races Work

You must register to participate and registration must be completed no later than Sunday afternoon.  All races are free, but a donation is encouraged.

You can run your virtual race anytime on Saturday or on Sunday up until 7:45 pm. You pick your route and time yourself. Any running venue or treadmill is acceptable.  GPS distances and treadmill dashboards are acceptable for distance verifications. Results must be reported no later than 8:00pm on Sunday.

Please note that RaceJoy Virtual Races must be run on RaceJoy Certified Courses.  See above for more information on available RaceJoy Certified courses.
Learn more about RaceJoy in the section below and by watching this short user video.

Registration caps are established to keep virtual race results processing manageable.  Caps may be lifted after we gain more experience with Virtual Races.

Social Distancing and Virtual Races

Please practice social distancing and other safe hygiene practices that can also help prevent the spread of germs.

  • Ensure six feet of separation between other runners and walkers at all times.
  • Move safely away from others if you need to cough or sneeze.
  • Don't shake hands.
  • Wash your hands promptly after you run.
  • If you are sick or feeling ill, stay quarantined at home and away from others.

Submit Your Virtual Race Results

Submit results through RunSignUp. You will receive an email next weekend after you have registered with instructions for submitting your results.

This is an honor system!  Don't be a cheater!

Note that you must be registered and have an assigned bib number to submit results.  Your bib number will be on your confirmation email below the bar code and before the Registration Cart summary.

Look up your bib number on the Participant Page.

Race Cost

This virtual race is free! But we would welcome any contributions you want to make.

The cancellation of races also means the loss of race timing revenue which is a significant source of operating income for Twin City Track Club.  Your donation will help to offset at least some of the impact of the canceled races.  Any amount is helpful.  We are grateful for your support.

The Twin City Track Club (TCTC) is a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting running and fitness in the Winston-Salem, North Carolina area since 1977.
