Description
Join us for The Longest Day Event to raise funds and awareness for the care, support, and research efforts of the Alzheimer's Association. Together we will run/walk to show our love for all those affected by Alzheimer's. We will be at Zorinsky Lake beginning near the parking lot and boat ramp (156th and F St entrance). The route will be marked along the trail. Water will be provided at the halfway point. You can run/walk as long as short as you'd like! We will be keeping a mileage total during the morning to see how far we can go together. Below are some stats on Alzheimer's along with some running challenges to take on that day. The race is free but donations to the Alzheimer's Association are encouraged!
- Every 65 second, someone in America develops Alzheimer's- try run/walking 65 seconds alternating between the two.
- Worldwide, 50 million people are living with Alzheimer's- Think you can run 5.0 miles to raise awareness?
- More than 16 million Americans, usually family and friends, provide unpaid care for someone with Alzheimer's- try walking 1.6 miles!
- Alzheimer's disease is the sixth-leading cause of death across all ages in the United States- Can you run/walk 6 miles?
