F.A.S.T.er than a Speeding Bullet Super Hero Virtual Race

It's a Bird, It's a Plane, it's....it's.....YOU

As a member of Tedy's Team, my main goal is increasing awareness of congenital heart disease and the warning signs of stroke.  What better way to do this than a "Super Hero" Virtual Race because you must be faster than a speeding bullet and call 9-1-1 immediately if you or someone else shows any of the sudden signs of stroke.  An easy way to remember these signs is the acronym F.A.S.T.

F Face Drooping – Does one side of the face droop or is it numb? Ask the person to smile. Is the person's smile uneven?
A Arm Weakness – Is one arm weak or numb? Ask the person to raise both arms. Does one arm drift downward?
S Speech Difficulty – Is speech slurred? Is the person unable to speak or hard to understand? Ask the person to repeat a simple sentence, like "The sky is blue." Is the sentence repeated correctly?
T Time to call 9-1-1 – If someone shows any of these symptoms, even if the symptoms go away, call 9-1-1 and get the person to the hospital immediately. Check the time so you'll know when the first symptoms appeared.

What is a Virtual Race?

This virtual race will take place between 12/8 and 12/15. The great thing about a virtual race is that it can be done at any venue that you wish. You can walk, jog, skip, fly, dance or run the distance of your choice. You can complete your race at the gym on a treadmill, a practice run in town, a stroll in the park, or another local racing event.  No proof is required for your race, but it would be "Super" if you could upload a post-run picture of yourself to my Facebook page Running With Heart.

Should I wear a Super Hero Costume?

Super Hero t-shirts or costumes are encouraged but not required to participate. But hey, isn't life better when wearing a cape?!

What do I get in Return?

All race participants will be emailed a race bib after registration and payment. You will be mailed a "Super Hero Swag Bag" at the conclusion of the race that includes:

• A large Super Hero tote bag
• A Super Hero themed finisher’s medal
• A Super Hero themed bandana
